Atrial Fibrillation Expert Dr. Andrea Natale Continues To Develop Innovative Afib Treatments
The heart is more than a human organ. The human heart is a symbol of love, friendship, and family. When the heart starts beating at a faster rate, people feel the excitement in each heartbeat. But when the cause of a rapid heart is not the result of some external experience, people call their doctor. Dr. Andrea Natale, the Texas heart surgeon, gets an abundance of calls from people who suffer from a rapid heartbeat. Dr. Natale calls that condition atrial fibrillation.
Dr. Natale is the medical director at The Texas St. David’s Arrhythmia Institute. Andrea Natale is an atrial fibrillation surgical and non-surgical expert. Dr. Natale is a co-founder of the Heart Rhythm Society (HRS). Natale was the group’s 2010 ambassador, and in 2011 he became a Heart Rhythm Society’s Board Trustee.
Atrial fibrillation can occur at any age. More than 12 million people across the world will experience atrial fibrillation by 2030, according to a European study. Atrial fibrillation is not a life-threatening condition on its own. But when the two upper chamber heartbeats are not in sync with the two lower chamber beats, there is a risk of stroke and other organ issues.
During Dr. Natale’s Texas EPLive conference, he mentioned an Italian study that found Afib in 19% of the COVID cases. According to the study, the virus seemed to attack people with pre-existing Afib. Seventy-five percent of the elderly COVID patients had a history of atrial fibrillation attacks.
Natale co-founded EPLive, so doctors, researchers, and other medical professionals had the latest atrial fibrillation treatments and devices. Last December’s conference attracted a large group of medical professionals thanks to the panel of heart experts Natale put together to speak and answer questions.
Dr. Natale stays in touch with the international atrial fibrillation community. Ensite Vascular knew Dr. Natale would be an asset to its Medical Advisory Board in May 2021. Ensite Vascular is the medical company that developed a device called Ensite Vascular’s SiteSeal VCD. Natale is also a published author as well as the editor-in-chief of a prestigious medical journal.
